Insight Description: What I learned in the workshop on adaptive leadership was the distinction between technical and adaptive change.
Situation Description: This came in when we were doing a case study where a group organized responsibility for answering a major change that was happening in an organization.
Insight interpretation meaning: Technical problems may be solved, but adaptive problems require new learning and new values to shift. The following is a project where there was a shift in culture in my team. I now realize that I was treating it like a technical problem.
Interpretation of insight: That newfound knowledge would enable me to act subsequently when dealing with problems in such a way that they needed adaptive leadership to handle them.
Analysis of insight: That is important because it allows me to develop a capacity for solving problems, that is, complex ones. That would benefit me to know how I can manage and source team resistance as well as interlace collaboration.
Now, I will do the insight into situations by first diagnosing whether the challenge we're facing is technical or adaptive. Then, three months from now, I will set a goal of using this approach in my current role, and I will ask my team to comment on the process.
Insight Description:In a distributed leadership group activity, I realized the value in the sharing of leadership among the team based on the unique strength and expertise of each team member, instead of doing it ourselves.
Situation Description: In working through a problem-solving task, this insight came through as our group tackled the problem differently, and through distributed leadership, each perspective had a value to add to the solution that worked better than it would without team members’ perspectives.
Insight interpretation meaning: It suddenly hit me that I had been guilty of assuming the responsibility for too much when in group settings, that because I was the leader I had to make the decisions.
Interpretation of insight: This insight will change the way I structure future projects with a team because I will encourage collaboration and shared responsibility so that I can get the most out of my team.
Analysis of insight:Distributed leadership promotes innovation and engagement among team members. Besides improving group performance, this approach builds the leadership development skills of all.
In my next team project, I will distribute leadership by profiling each of my team member's strengths and assigning leadership roles to them. At the end of the cycle of the project, within two months my goal is to evaluate the effectiveness of this approach.
Insight Description: One of the key insights I gained about the role of stakeholder capitalism and how modern leaders consider the well-being of all the stakeholders considering the traditional leaders must focus on shareholders only.
Situation Description:During the stakeholder capitalism session, I realized that it is redefining traditional business models and incorporating other definite.
Insight interpretation meaning: It made me rethink my leadership approach, which formerly gave me more attention to the efficiency of operations rather than the interests of stakeholders. I realized that ethical leadership is actually balancing profit motives with the needs of employees, customers, and communities.
Interpretation of insight: This insight makes me rethink how to thrust leadership in a way that considers social and ethical responsibilities.
Analysis of insight: For my future work as a leader, I need to understand stakeholder capitalism because it offers a different view than the traditional profit-driven mind-set. With this framework, I have a sustainable and ethical way to guide a company in any organization.
To achieve this, I want to combine stakeholder engagement into my leadership strategies, by developing a stakeholder analysis of my current projects. However, I intend to finish this analysis by the end of the next month and align the project to the interests of broader stakeholders.
Insight Description: Personally, I learned the importance of servant leadership with a talk in which we talked about the importance of putting the needs of others first and building emotional intelligence as a critical leadership capability.
Situation Description: During a reflective exercise in which we learned the ten aspects of servant leadership, theinsightful moment centred around empathy.
Insight interpretation meaning: Finally I realized that my leadership style was often task-driven, stating the end result as opposed to the health and well-being of my team. And now I can understand how to use servant leadership to foment trust and loyalty around relationships.
Interpretation of insight: This changed my leadership style by ensuring empathy and emotional intelligence mean just as much as hard work and execution.
Analysis of insight: This insight has a direct impact on the cohesion and morale of the team. Using servant leadership, I can introduce a more supportive and trusting work environment.
So to apply this insight, I’ll make the commitment to be active in practicing emotional intelligence by setting up regular check-ins with my team to talk not just about working but about how they’re doing personally.
